Manual-Based Program Instructor Training/Program Licensing Process

The positive results achieved from the evidence-based COPE Programs are widely documented in multiple studies. But the positive successes of the programs are due in large part to the dedication of our Instructors*, and their belief that they can affect positive change by empowering children and teens with the skills to COPE with stress, anxiety and depression.

Our COPE Family of Instructors continues to grow!

Are you interested in becoming a program instructor and delivering a manual-based program?

Our all-inclusive, program-based pricing is designed for you. All instructor* program training is now included in our program packages, is completely online and is available 24/7 so can be completed when it fits into your schedule. Once trained, instructors can purchase any of the 7-session student manuals/workbooks (or 15-Session as applicable).

How Do I Become a COPE Instructor? Follow these three steps:

Step 1: Purchase a 7-session or 15-session manual-based program.

Step 2: Complete the online training (takes about 2.5-3 hours) that's included in the program package price (no costly travel and hotel charges required) and you are all set to deliver the program.

Step 3: Complete a Practice Delivery Session and submit the results form.

Your Certificate of Completion and Practice Delivery License, along with the manuals included with your program are typically delivered just a few days after training has been completed. So you can begin delivering the program in as little as 1 - 2 weeks from the date of your program purchase.

The Instructor Training and Program Licensing process has just three steps:

Step 1: Complete the COPE Instructor Online Training at your convenience day or night.

Step 2: Complete a Practice Program Delivery session with a child, teen, or young adult of your choice.

Step 3: Submit a Practice Delivery Results Form.

Step 1. The COPE Instructor Online Training (2.5 hour session) can be taken at any time, and includes a 10-question multiple-choice quiz to verify understanding of the basic elements of the program. A passing score of 80% or greater (16 or more correct answers) is required in order to deliver the programs and order manuals.

The training module can be viewed and quiz taken as many times as desired in order to achieve a passing score.

Step 2. The Practice Program Delivery session can be performed at any time, but must be completed prior to licensing and delivery of any COPE program. The purpose of this exercise is to provide practice delivering the program with at least one “typical" child or teen student prior to delivering it to actual students.

The practice delivery can include one or multiple sessions and can be performed over a few consecutive days (does not need to follow the “once a week” schedule of the formal program). And the “practice student” can be your own child, a friend of the family, etc.

Step 3: Once the Practice Program Delivery session has been completed, simply submit the Practice Delivery Results Form (available by clicking here), providing the following information:

  • Age of teen or child student

  • Teen or child general feedback on material in program

  • Your feedback/questions on program

  • Date of completion

After the form is reviewed by a COPE Administrator, a Certificate of Completion and Program Delivery License will be mailed to you. This authorizes you to deliver the program and order manuals for the length of the purchased program license. The Program Delivery License is valid for one year and applies only to the instructor listed on the certificate. The Program Delivery License must be renewed each year.

We license the instructor and not the facility, you can take the Delivery License with you  and continue to deliver the programs even if you change jobs. Don't forget to notify us of any email changes so we can stay in contact!
